Mountain Laurel - This was taken in the mountains of Lee County, Va.
House Wren
Red Shoulder Hawk - Imagine my surprise today when I caught a glimpse of something landing in a tree in the back yard. I couldn't believe it was a hawk. Wish it had been a little closer. I've tried cropping and doing some enhancing in Photoshop so you could get a better look at it. Don't have any idea what type of lens I need to get the birds I'd like.

Female Finch
Female Finch on Blackeyed Susan
Finch
Take a close look at this bird. His feet and back are in one direction and head in another. I did not know that a bird could turn his head and look backwards 180 degrees.

This heron was taken at Sunday Park in Brandermill. I, also, got a little surprise when looking at the pictures, at the feet is a turtle.

I changed this Tufted Tit Mouse to black and white. It looks much better than in color.
The Finch spent quite a few minutes on the Black Eyed Susans so I was able to get quite a few shots of it.
Was really surprised when I looked at this picture. Didn't realize I had caught the bird in flight. I thought it had flown out of view.

I am really, really pleased with this picture of the hummingbird. I only had to lighten it a little.

While at Sunday Park with the grandsons I saw this Heron on one of the boats. He stayed still for quite awhile before deciding to take flight and go to the far bank. He stayed there for awhile but decided to head off to a destination further away.
