Maymont Park new Bears

The bears remind of how puppies frolic and play. They paid no attention to the crowd gathered to watch them.

BIRD

Took this little bird at Maymont Park. I think its a Mockingbird (not really sure)

Squirrel in Hollow Tree

The squirrel is trying to take over the hollow tree that I've been trying so hard to get a good picture of the woodpecker. Maybe they will share it. All I could get of the squirrel was him/her peeking out of the hole.

WOODPECKER

I'm trying to get this woodpecker but so far as soon as he sees me off he flies. In this picture he was on the far side of the hollow tree. I'll just keep on trying. Hopefully, I'll get a good shot sooner or later.

I captured pictures of the female and male Cardinals while in Pennington Gap during Thanksgiving weekend. Am very pleased with them.

WHITE ROCKS - EWING, VIRGINIA

This picture was taken a number of years ago. Of course, the rocks haven't changed since then. I might have posted the White Rocks before, but this is from a different angle.

HELP!!! What is it???

What is this? Is it a butterfly or a moth? I have searched on line but can't find any information about it. If you can identify it, please let me know !!!!!!

This hummer has a very unusual look. Her body was the the shade of the feeder and the wing tips had the sun shinning on them.

Mountain Laurel - This was taken in the mountains of Lee County, Va.

House Wren

Red Shoulder Hawk - Imagine my surprise today when I caught a glimpse of something landing in a tree in the back yard. I couldn't believe it was a hawk. Wish it had been a little closer. I've tried cropping and doing some enhancing in Photoshop so you could get a better look at it. Don't have any idea what type of lens I need to get the birds I'd like.

Female Finch

Female Finch on Blackeyed Susan

Finch

Take a close look at this bird. His feet and back are in one direction and head in another. I did not know that a bird could turn his head and look backwards 180 degrees.

This heron was taken at Sunday Park in Brandermill. I, also, got a little surprise when looking at the pictures, at the feet is a turtle.

I changed this Tufted Tit Mouse to black and white. It looks much better than in color.

The Finch spent quite a few minutes on the Black Eyed Susans so I was able to get quite a few shots of it.

Was really surprised when I looked at this picture. Didn't realize I had caught the bird in flight. I thought it had flown out of view.
